Spiritual Gifts

Then Jesus died and was resurrected.  A while later, he was taken up in heaven where he proverbially "sat at the right hand of God."  This description is an indication of His position of authority.  As He had predicted, His kingdom soon was established upon earth, with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. 

Spiritual gifts were handed out to His disciples, apostles and followers.  We read about this in 1 Corinthians 12 and 14 but also this was announced by the prophet Joel long before.  Therefore, modern prophets are just as legitimate as those of the Old Testament.

"And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions"





There is no status to any of these and its names describe functions, not ranks.

Are you ware of your gifts, do you know what these are?  Also please note that speaking in tongues is not for everybody just as the gifts of teaching, healing, prophecy or any other gift is not universal, but Jesus distributes as He wishes to, therefore empowering each for his/her own calling. 

My wife was surprised when we came a small island nation on the other side of the globe and she could understand every word they said!  Yet her very own language is something she does not excel at and many times would use the wrong words when expressing herself.  When we were about to be kidnapped (they had already taken our passports away) she overheard the conversation and we could find help.
