Understanding Trinity

"Hear, oh Israel, your Lord is One!"

I am a father and I am a son.
I am a computer geek and a nature lover.
I am a careful driver and I am a reader.
I am a pensioner and a patient.
I am many things to many people.
I am just me!

In similar fashion, God has many names as He has many functions.  Think of the names such as Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah Rapha, Jehovah Nisi.  Not well-known but keen Bible students could recognise these names and even add more.

The essence of God is that He is spirit. We are made in His image as we are also spirit.  We see many descriptions of Jesus in Isaiah 9:6:

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

In John 1, we read that "in the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God" and also that "the Word became flesh and dwelt amidst men."

The Bible also teaches that "God is spirit and man must worship Him in Spirit and Truth."

We also read that the Spirit of God rests upon Jesus - you can read about it in Isaiah 11 verse 2.  Now we see that there are various spirits of God!  Which one now is the Holy Spirit?  This is repeated in Revelation where He is depicted as a lamb "as if slain" with seven eyes which are the "seven spirits of God" and the Father sitting upon a throne.  Ask yourself:  how does a slaughtered land stand upright?  Obviously, we have a metaphor here, figurative speech.  One need to read with discernment and not take everything to be literal.

See, people do not think when they read!  There is One God and He has many attributes, He does not need another spirit because He is THE Spirit! :)

1 x 1 x 1 = 1, never 3!

Trinity teaching was never part of the early church, it was derived from pagan beliefs and introduced for political reasons in 284AD by a Byzantine monk.  Like Christmas and infant "baptism", it came from cultures outside of the Bible or the early church. Even the Bible was changed early on from teaching them to baptise in MY name to Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Sadly, it also is the misconceived trinity teaching that has NO Biblical foundation that keeps especially Jews and Muslims from accepting the Living God Jesus as their Saviour.

Just know that God is real, alive and well and certainly Jesus is not "just" the Son of God.  After all, He said that "before Abraham was, I am."

When asked about it, He gave different answers to different people, because He knew their intentions and acted accordingly.

1 x 1 x 1 = 1, never 3!
